like it's really depressing to think about all of those times i've been screamed at or hit (former: probably thousands of times, latter: enough times) and realize they really just failed to communicate first that they wanted me to be a tool, a means to an end. i don't _know_ that i would have bought into it if they did but at least i would have considered it
