That is a possibility. Also we could have a few metadata only relays, where you can locate which relays a user is posting to. Then users only need post to perhaps two or three relays for redundancy and the clients are smart enough to find the posts of the people you follow. It was cool to have the "global" for a while but that has come to a sticky end
