We can go back to the good old days if people abandon the retarded idea of working at McDonald's so that they can pay rent, or studying 5 years in college only to work 10 more years just to buy a house.
In essence, it's an issue of organizing society. Reject the advances in technology in so far as they complicate life. Accept them to ease life, instead.
