As an Asian American immigrant, it makes me sad that so often the thing that finally makes our communities raise their political voice is not a just cause but rather a hateful one. In this case, opposing homeless shelters (which is the same thing I have seen in Seattle). In other cases, opposing school inclusion, opposing queer rights, etc. Somehow, always punching down and never up.
Fellow Asian immigrants, give me words to feel more hopeful, please.
