GPT4 is incredible. I think the people who poo-poo it are largely reacting to exaggerated claims made by some about its current fitness for purpose, or they are exhibiting an instinctive fear, all without actually spending any significant time working with it in anything but the most superficial fashion. I would even say if you're an expert in Bayesian ML and understand how LLMs are trained and work mathematically, you still don't know much about them until you use them.
