Three that ive been researching have different use cases. Briar, Simplex Chat, and OxCart.
Briar can communicate over bluetooth, wifi, and tor. No servers needed. Both clients nred to be online at same time.
Simplex chat allows for simple to build/run relays so you have control over part of the infrastructure.
OxCart is built on the NOSTR protocol.
