Years ago I more or less got over my problems with ladders and heights by combining my foolhardy youthful spirit, need to put aerials up and a *very* rotten wooden extension ladder. At one point I was happy with all the ladder below me, working with both hands. Bought a nice ladder and tried climbing it last year, back to being a frozen statue at the top and backing down sloooowly. *sigh*
