The owner of this node, pkteerium.xyz, is also the creator of https://github.com/cjdelisle/cjdns and it shows how the concept of "federation" maybe evolved in different directions. I would not dismiss efforts and authors for any reason, although I was disappointed when Lemmy decided to scrap the development of their own API and protocol and simply adopt AP.
Putting all the eggs is one basket is never a good thing.
