#PennedPossibilities 537 — What perspectives or beliefs have you challenged with this WIP?
Feeling much better. Gonna answer this one now, but I'll talk about myself and the story rather than the challenges and beliefs of the characters within the story(ies). I wanted to leave this open for everyone to decide how to answer, so I never specified.
I've tried to challenge myself (and my readers) with this series. While I myself am pansexual, non-binary, #LGBT+ / #LGBTQIA+ individual, everyone certainly isn't, and therefore they don't know the struggles we deal with on a daily basis. Within this world, it's the norm to be open about yourself. Homophobia almost doesn't exist. This is a huge difference between this world and ours. This might be a challenge for those who are reading and quickly realize that they /aren't/ quite as accepting as my characters, just to put it nicely. But anyways, screw them. At first, this was a challenge for me, even after the years I've written LGBT+ / LGBTQIA+ fiction stories. I don't know why, but it was. It hit me differently, and I felt compelled to try my damndest, despite what some people might say upon reading the novel (or series). I realized one day that I didn't care.
