I really like the vibes on mastodon, but I do feel that it's just not as sticky for me as Twitter was back when it was fun. It feels like a few different factors:
1. It feels less realtime – Twitter used to thrum with the pulse of what was currently happening (that people on Twitter cared about). Watching Jan 6th or the last two Irish referenda unfolding on Twitter was captivating and kicked any news site into orbit. Mastodon feels a little less focused (which isn't a bad or good thing, imo).
