I don’t equate charity, benevolence, or kindness with #altruism for the same reason I don’t equate dieting with starving to death.
The former are rational actions toward a life-sustaining value.
But *consistently* applying altruism as a _moral ideal_ would mean fully denying your life’s value by suicidally serving others’ more valuable lives.
Which is why both dictators and “afterlife” believers preach it, and why those who advocate altruism for their benefit are hypocrites.
