I tried to be quirky... Of course it's a bit of an oversimplification to blame the Big Oil/Industry on everything, but alas, man's gotta write what he wants to write.
Heating up the ocean does increase the probability of natural disasters like this one, so in a way I'd say they are partly responsible in "controlling the weather."
