Christ says nothing about upholding capital punishment in those verses. In fact, in vv. 10-20, Jesus shits on the disciples and calls them idiots, calling out their lack of understanding. The lesson is one of hypocrisy on the part ode the Pharisees by selective application of the law. Jesus neither speaks in favor of or against capital punishment in these passages.",
