The guardian published a review of how Atlantic's Goldberg's number got on Waltz's phone.
And... The description seems both plausible and I think I'm willing to let Waltz describe it as his phone "sucked in" Goldberg's number and misfiled it.
The start of the mistake was another trump minion Brian Hughes forwarded an email with Goldberg's contact info in the signature line to Waltz. The iPhone thought this signature was associated with Hughes and suggested adding Goldberg's number to Hughes contact card, Waltz is probably not the most careful of people and just said sure whatever to the prompt.
