IMHO the biggest obstacle for most, is becoming aware of the multiple valid interpretations of truth. A normal person just uses one, hence isn't aware of the existence of multiple others, and tends to blame different opinions on misunderstanding, stupidity, or even malice. I was very lucky to have been working with a guy who at the time was in the process of writing his philosophy PhD thesis on the topic of truth theory, and kept his short notes ever since. It's been 30 years or so…

Re: the topic of bodily/sensory limitations: Very true what you are saying. In my 20s, based on my frustration of not being able to kick vertically into the top of a door frame (I may have been a little weird at the time 😅), I found that everyone is a handicapped person. Some more, some less. And made it my goal to try and be as little handicapped as I could, while treating everyone else as, well, just another also-handicapped person. That way, respect for people in wheel chairs or on crutches came completely naturally.
