I completely agree with the sentiment here but the problem with public transit in places like this is wtf do you do when you get there? The destinations have to be walkable in order to build up this kind of infrastructure in the first place. The problem with 90% of Amtrak stations is they're in the middle of nowhere, you can't stop off at them unless you have someone to pick you up.
