"And increasingly having to do that research ourselves and do what we can to share it with each other rather than rely on advice from the government."
For me, it would less stressful if I could share that research with others who appreciate it. I am frustrated that when I attempt to present information about COVID to some of my friends, they blow it off or minimize it with some asinine reply.
Two recent examples:
I made a Facebook post with screen shots showing how our local wastewater data indicated a sharp increase in COVID infections. Stay safe! I said. One response: "I guess I won't be drinking any more of that wastewater!"
I mentioned to a pharmacist friend that the risk of long COVID rises with each infection and that COVID affects every organ of the body. His response: "But the cases are milder now."
Honestly, I give up. I quit posting anything about COVID (except here, where y'all are smarter and scientific and shit). If my friends want to be "COVID volunteers," I can't stop them. It's gonna be sad to donate to their health care GoFundMe campaign, though.
