or if it is general purpose hardware the software running on it only uses what it needs and nothing else, you could have a full bloat linux kernel running on it, but its entire purpose is to run that software so it only needs and uses, say, a display compositor, touch screen driver, maybe basic network stack, but everything else goes unused.
