Oh, and the whole place is infested with Bermuda grass. I have a visceral urge to cover as much of it as possible with a big stretch of billboard plastic and let it bake the grass over the summer.
It gets into the joints of the planks on the raised beds. Even if I could dig in that hard soil to get at the roots, the beds would have to be pulled apart to get the bits lodged in the crevices.
