If you're talking about Linux, I highly recommend it.

The hardcore Linux folk will advocate for "real Linux" like Arch, Debian, CentOS, or even BSD, but I highly recommend Linux Mint. It's the best hassle-free, good UI/UX out-of-the-box, IMO.

Ubuntu is better for servers and specific applications like running AI.

Ubuntu desktop also has a great U/UX, especially if you're coming from macOS. Pretty close to Mint in user-friendliness.

Either Linux Mint or Ubuntu desktop is a great user experience. After getting really comfortable with that, NixOS is also awesome.

(perhaps you were talking about NixOS - also highly-recommended. NixOS will become the standard eventually, IMO)
