I used to do everything in emacs, but then started running vscode a lot to play nice with coworkers. In the meantime I have gotten really used to vscode's ability to quickly navigate between files in a common directory. But I'm not feeling great about them packing every possible AI feature into the editor lately ... and it's memory footprint is now like 1,000,000 Gb which makes my 16Gb laptop feel a little slow at times. I've kinda been eying emacs again ... but miss the ability to have that file/dir navigation in the left hand pane. I looked around for other editors and nothing really caught my eye. (I know I can just open multiple copies of emacs to jump between source files which is what I always used to do ... maybe I should just go back to doing that.)
