There's a difference between proactively violating user privacy and following court orders in criminal cases.
All companies (Proton included) have to follow court orders, but it has been proven multiple times in court that Proton's encryption cannot be bypassed. Proton however can't provide anonymity unless the user has proper infosec (like using Tor or VPN).
