I agree there are at least hundreds of thousands, possibly millions, in a similar or worse position.
I absolutely don't get why that would be a reason to not support her, as your 'but' seems to suggest. Someone else suffering too is never a reason to not support someone, and even if you would want to give support as efficient as possible: your 'rise up' needs people like her badly.
