Between censoring money transactions and censoring transactions of supposedly pictures being stored on the blockchain, I’ll take the picture censoring.

Of course, this is just my own opinion because to me ordinals are stupid. It is interesting how this situation also reflects the personal preference of people.

I think what people are missing the most is that with the price rise of Bitcoin more and more people will be encouraged to mine as well. Those might (hopefully) choose to mine outside the main pools, and not apply the censoring stuff. Another possible scenario is to have mining happen mostly at a different country, that does not enforce censoring on pool companies.

But what strikes me the most is that people seem to forget that if Bitcoin transactions get censored then it loses a significant property that is part of what makes it such a great asset, which is the “uncensorable” aspect. If the price goes down, that means mining is no longer worth it either, so pools might shrink or stop. In that case, personal, individual, amateur mining will thrive once again, just like in the beginning of Bitcoin.

I just hope for the best on the long run. I’ll be trusting the logic above for the time being.
