The main challenge with mine is they bend when flowering. It grows nice and straight the rest of the time. Then the flower clusters come and are too heavy for the stem.
The Joe Pye holds one side up nicely. My recommendation would be to plant with other taller plants, provide support, or cut shorter earlier in the year.
Otherwise, they take care of themselves. No aggressive spreading. And turns a really pretty color in the fall as a bonus.
