Its the rate of growth were telling aboutIf you're gonna argue the 80s were the point that exponential growth happens and it was caused by fiat. You better be able to back that up with data showing it.
That doesn't mean exponential growth didn't happen or isn't happening now. Its just not something that started all of a sudden im the 8sT
I would argue the exponential growth rate as measured by gdp would be starting at something like industrial revolution. Though you could argue its agricultural revolution.
