Electric engines have better acceleration that is just a fact.
With internal combustion you have a bunch of extra moving parts, which creates friction and energy loss.
Like what do you think all the noise is?
Louder = more wasted energy
I prefer electric for a totally unrelated reason though, it's much more difficult for me to collect plastic and run a pyrolysis machine, or grow the amount of canola and process it for diesel.
I could grow a bunch of corn and potatoes to make ethanol but even still.
A few solar panels on the roof that I already have because why the fuck would I want to pay an electrical company for something the sun provides for free?
So yeah I like electric because it gives me back the power, electric is like as good as a horse but kinda better.
Internal combustion either makes you dependant on corporations and governments or it requires a shitload of extra work.
That work also includes all the extra maintenance because of all the extra moving parts and all the extra stresses and frictions and things to go wrong.
Electric motor > horses > harnessing a tiny bit of the energy from a serious of controlled explosions
As for pollution the airborne microplastics that shed from tires are worse than the exhaust and unless you're in a really urbanised area with standing traffic all the time the exhaust is not a really a big deal since they removed the lead from the fuel.
Carbon footprints are a load of shit to shift the blame from corporations and governments onto people. The USA military is the worst polluter on earth worse than all the personally owned cars combined, worse polluter than most countries entire energy grids.
