perhaps a grumpy controversial opinion, but ... i think lots of folks like the *idea* of a global design system, but this idea seems to live in some kind of quantum state of undefined "high level". as soon as you try to pin it down (what will it look like? is it markup? etc) it's usually "no, it's not that...that's too specific".
