Malásek is clever. He knows more about radio technology, bugs and spy craft than I do, but that's where the research comes in.
Alice is very clever but in an abstract sort of way. She thinks along knots instead of straight lines, but she's been told all her life she is "abstracted" and "childish" so she believes herself to be stupid.
Nat's educated, but a bit naive. He's seen little of the world beyond his father's shop (until now!)
