Networking For People Who Don't Network

Although I consider myself a social person I'm not sure about my networking skills, I was wondering how can I meet and talk to people in this space?
I love the threads and comments here @ SN, but at some point I will want to have direct contact to people I look up to and respect.
How are you guys networking while not being face-to-face and not being in the same corp as other stackers/nostriches/bitcoiners?
