I don't agree often with Janan Ganesh (FT), but I think he's right on why billionaires support a politician like Donald Trump.
1. The rich don't understand fanaticism/dogmatism, but rather see all relations as transactional; there's always a compromise to be made.... (but with fanatics, not so much);
2. they also value contrarian ideas, as after all they made their money by spotting an un exploited (refused) market opportunity. (But in politics wrong ideas can have devastating consequences!)
