I’m not anti marriage. I think marrying the right person is the trick. I am a fan of premarital counseling and prenups. Which I think creates an environment to have hard but necessary conversations in relationships. My parents are still ridiculously in love. So I’m probably biased in favor.

I do think sometimes circumstances are such that being in a committed partnership is wiser than getting married. A partnership of any length and quality still needs to be able to have the tough conversations. You could also find yourself in a common law marriage with rights and responsibilities due to your actions. Better to go in with your eyes as open as possible. Choose instead of slide.
