It's difficult to admit that the darkness is inside ourselves, and that we have to do something about it. It's also comforting to believe that Satan/the rich/white people/the Jews are manipulating an entirely innocent lower-class, who never does anything wrong, because then you don't have to do anything. You can just dream about the day the revolution happens.
