From an application developer's perspective, "normal" code is 100% definitely not "statistics". The computer does exactly what you tell it to. You never have to deal with a boolean expression suddenly returning something else because… statistics?
When things get complex (distributed systems, etc), things get harder to rely upon, but that is also where a lot of people have spent a lot of time making sure bits go to the right servers. I would not call that statistics.
