There she is. Untamed, kind and cruel. A treacherous little thing.
The peninsula I am standing on is just north of what would have been outside the city gates in ye olden times. And this place has refused to become a usable part of the town for as long as the town existed. It became a bath place once, the latest attempt was sprucing it up for a garden fair, and yet it always falls back into some kind of Dornröschen sleep. A place of perpetual quiet melancholy. My only happy place in my hometown.
You could sit here for hours, looking over into another country, dreaming of drifting towards the sea.
I make it a point to turn up here for at least half an hour every time I am in town, and it is weird to think that some day it'll be the last time. And no matter how much of a constant she was in my life, once I am gone she will already have forgotten about me.
In the face of nature, we are so utterly insignificant that it is comically tragic that we presume to be her masters.
We wound her, and she will just shrug us off.
