If you’re new and wondering why some of your favorite social networking features might be missing from nostr clients- keep in mind nostr is mostly volunteer-powered by developers who contribute their own time and money.

We did have some generous funding from Jack 🙏 which helped create some bounties for various things. Coinkite is also pitching in. But, we are talking a tiny fraction of what a regular startup might raise for just one app. For the most part, devs are donating their own time and money (relay hosting) which speaks greatly about the kinds of people involved and their visions for this protocol. Many are doing this on nights and weekends while working full time jobs. They could be doing other things and getting paid well doing them, but they are here.

Point is, please be patient, submit your suggestions and ideas and please stick around long term because it’ll take a while to be able to even remotely compete with the multi-billion dollar giants.

And of course, donate to the devs whatever you can. 💜 🙇‍♂️ You’ll see them talking about their clients and projects here, and most have lightning enabled.

Nostr is a community effort and everyone can contribute in one way or another. Nostriches ftw! 🙌
