Here are a few technologies that make me optimistic for humanity's future:
- Bitcoin
- Nostr
- Permaculture, aquaculture and vertical farming
- Water harvesting
- Solar and fusion
- Lithium-ion and nickel–hydrogen battery storage
- Linux and BSD
- Quantum compute
- AI / ML
- Robotics and automation
- Material engineering
- 3D printing
Technological change carries existential risk for humanity, from societal and birth rate collapse to information, kinetic and biological warfare.
But it's easy to see the negative without truly appreciating the extraordinary potential of these technologies for humanity.
We are living in revolutionary times.
