Heroic dose not needed... 2k iu is probably enough. Higher probably wont hurt, but it'll cost more. Or just get sunlight - an hour in the sun is more than any supplement.
I do think there are other entities around, though don't know enough to say they're inter dimensional. What would cause them to change their behavior now? Humans are capable of doing these things, so I'm going with it being a human thing for now.
The lymphatic system being related to mystical experiences does make sense... Well, if there's a blockage, the easiest way to to fix it is to move around. The more your body moves, the more the goo inside moves.
