There are rarer vegetation types around NZ cities that need more care. For example, down here in Ōtautahi-Christchurch there’s the native drylands around McLeans Island. Those are filled with low growing more open country native plants, many of them threatened, that would be smothered out be dense forest shade if we planted a forest there.
