Honestly, I feel like we already have cures for most of the major illnesses, but it is far more profitable as it currently is. Seriously, if they can determine what can cause cancer, it seems logical to assume they could create medicine to combat the condition fore it got to that point.
Obviously this is a very simplistic way explanation, but something is going on. I mean, if they can clone a sheep, curing cancer should be a piece of cake.
