Alvin Ailey was truly awesome, including his ability to foster great talent. His touring group came to Penn State in mid-1960s, terrific performances, including Judith Jamison, very early in career, already incredible. Luckily, 1973-83 I lived in N NJ, could get in to NYC to see performances. Still miss that, although have occasionally been able to catch a few in Berkeley.
