I took time to read all of that, really well done man. I really liked p5r too, and i get shit for it all the time. I dont follow reddit or twitter groups who just outright worship persona, i just enjoy it myself. Glad you gave it a fair chance. I would personally reccomend the persona 2 duology of innocent sin and eternal punishment, the psp ports in particular.
