My guess:
The platform was engineered and designed to function as a free-speech honeypot from Day One. What better way to identify your political dissidents and build a comprehensive list of antisemitic terrorists than giving them free rein to speak their minds? We have been so oppressed and so censored that the human need to self-express, to find friendships and camaraderie will drive us to speak our minds, discuss the forbidden ideals and in so doing, reveal our hidden position/alignment. It also gave them a psychoanalytical laboratory to study our thought processes, ideologies, reactions and group behavior (such as identifying subjects that we fight over and factionalize on.) It was intended to be a goldmine for Actionable Intelligence.
At first, the platform was functioning properly by merely identifying those elusive Nazi dissidents and aggregating them into one community. But then, the unthinkable happened and it got out of control. Instead of just giving the existing Nazis a chance to out themselve, the movement began to go viral. Now it was quickly SPREADING antisemitism to normal people who previously would have never considered embracing the ideology. This contagion had to be controlled and suppressed. The project needed to be shut down, with one last-ditch, all-or-nothing attempt to guilt trip those “Nazis” into identifying themselves. But how? ”We are fighting for your freedom of speech! How dare you freeload off of our hard work! We need you to give us more money! Just enter your debit card information, goy! This is a free speech EMERGENCY! You owe us!”
They knew that a large portion of users were going to leave the honeypot, causing it to eventually close down…but they also knew some poor dumb sons of bitches would remain loyal enough to take the bait and self-doxx. Either way, each contingency was prepared for. They executed a strategic soft-kill on the platform (while preserving plausible deniability) and simultaneously put out one last push to accomplish some portion of the original goal (get National Socialists to self-identify and self-doxx.)
