Fuck, I'm late for work but I guess I'll have to tell my boss I just had to give anon some examples.
The other day I was hate-watching this absolute clusterfuck of a film franchise with my sis (we pirated it). "After" is the name, and the two protagonists are the most unlikable people on the planet. They are constantly fighting over petty shit, getting into arguments over the most nonsensical stuff, and getting jealous over the other talking to other people (the most ridiculous example was the girl talking to a server and him then having nightmares of her running away with the other guy), which isn't helped by the fact that they are constantly trying to make the other jealous for whatever fucking reason. It's like they fucking hate each other's guts, and this is supposed to be "romance".
Then on the other hand there's anime like "Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san" where the two main characters just genuinely have appreciation for the other, like being around each other, want to make the other happy and see him/her grow as a person and it's overall extremely cute.
