PSU president Ann Cudd's email sent out today is despicable and straight up infuriating.
First of all, she lied (again) claiming she sent the police because tents were set up. The police were there long before any tents went up. They were there before the protest even began. Additionally, PPB stated in a press conference that they would be making an effort to have more of a presence at these protests. Thus, l'm compelled to believe that Ann Chud gave PPB carte blanche to attack students and crush dissent.
She also claims to love & support all students as well as support free speech against injustice. Last I checked, sending a violent state sanctioned gang to brutalize people expressing their right to free speech isn't love & support, nor is it supporting free speech.
Ann Chud ends the message by saying "hate does not belong at portland state. We can protest injustice without it." What hate? There was nothing hateful about last night aside from the way the police behaved. In fact, it was full of love. I saw nothing but students and community members looking out for one another and protecting each other from violent police that SHE sent in, all the while speaking & standing up for tens of thousands of martyrs & people being genocided. Ann Chudd is a disgraceful, hate filled liar.
