"content": "Here in Ireland I use closed composters because of the excessive rainfall (@~1600-1800mm) but back in Germany (at ~600 mm) we had a 4 m2 area enclosed with some old wooden boards that was accessible to the chickens. We dumped all the compostable stuff (kitchen waste, leaves etc.) in there for them to glean through and every so often forked or shoveled it into a🐓-inaccessible compost heap beside it. Best of both worlds. No compaction, loss of worms etc.",
