I always forget that the state of Washington is further north than Oregon.

My only excuse is I grew up in Chicago and am still not sure where Ohio, Idaho and Iowa are in relation to my home city, let alone state.

As my mother would say to me when I would forget a family birthday but be able to tell you the SIGGRAPH publication history of a random computer graphics researcher:
