This might be a hot take for multiple reasons, but my impression is that AI "prompt engineering" is the same sort of discipline as "SEO."
To be clear, I hold a low opinion of SEO; it's an adversarial skill-set that exists to exploit and subvert arbitrary behaviors by search engines that are likely to be changed and fortified against attempts at such gaming at any moment. At least that's how it started; the reality may be subtly different today (i.e., there are strategies to use the tools well).
