I wasn't aware of the context (i.e. that picamera was maintained by a 3rd-party developer who dropped the support). All I saw was that with the Bullseye release picamera was suddenly out with no alternatives.
Maybe outsourcing the development of the software the the camera wasn't a wise decision in the first place?
I guess that I'll do a bit more testing/reporting/contributing to get picamera2 to properly work on Arch and Ubuntu too then.
