We're done with the second and final day of "parent orientation" at #UVa and have collected our son, to keep him for a few more weeks until classes start. Even though we live nearby, 1st-year students are required to live in dorms.
Much of the orientation was about the importance of letting go. Older students in a roundtable discussion were asked how often they wanted parents to contact them: "Every couple of weeks, maybe", or "Once a month". Dunno if I'm up to that!
